Overcoming Mind Battles
By Rusty Wilson

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2

There are times when the devil comes to attack our mind to distract us from doing what God has called us to do, His Word. As we have our focus on God’s Word to be a doer of His Word and the work (James 1:22,25) that He has called us to do, the enemy will come with attacks to our mind to try to get our focus off God’s Word.

Even though the devil attacks our mind with thoughts that seem so real, we must remember they are lies. The devil wants us to think it is real so we will start confessing the thoughts so he will have something to work with: the spoken lie, which is his weapon. Not only is the lies he attacks our mind with is his weapon, if we speak those thoughts, we arm him with a weapon that is believed (the spoken lie), and he uses the negative words that are spoken against us and others.

Renewing our mind by reading God’s Word is the only way to overcome mind battles.
Romans 12:2 in the Amplified Bible tells us, Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude],… the devil wants us to think like the world thinks, with negative thoughts and speak negative confessions so he will have something to work with. Thoughts that seem so real but are lies. The devil wants us to think on the bad report from the doctor instead of the report in God’s Word. Let’s remember to believe and stand on the report of the Lord! (Isaiah 53:1). We thank God for doctors, but the medical report they give doesn’t have to be the final report, God’s Word is to be.

As we renew our mind with the Word of God, we will get and have an understanding of His Word and we will be able to strip off our former nature, discarding our old unrenewed self. Thinking the same old negative thoughts before we became born again. Ephesians 4:22 the Amplified Bible tells us, Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;
Delusion is the act of deluding; deception; a misleading of the mind. It is false representation; illusion; error or mistake proceeding from false views and that is what the devil brings, delusions, false views.

Let’s continue to renew our mind with God’s Word and be ready to stand against and overcome the deceptive thoughts the enemy attacks us with and remember, he is a liar and brings lies to us to think on. Let’s have a VICTORIOS mindset by renewing our mind with the Word of God and remember, we have the mind of Christ.
