It’s Not Working For You?
By Rusty Wilson

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:20-23

Have you ever heard the term, or someone say, “The bible doesn’t work for me”? The problem that people have is not that the bible doesn’t work for them, it’s that they aren’t working the Word (the bible). There are people that open their bible and read the scriptures and close it and go about their day and they don’t work the Word that they read.

Proverbs 4:20 tells us, My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. We are to attend (to hear, to give heed) to His Word, we are to speak His Word, so we can hear it and incline, yield to it and apply it to our life and continue to read His Word and apply it by speaking it.

We are not to let His Word depart from our eyes but, keep focused on God’s Words and keep them in the midst of our heart for out of the abundance of our heart our mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34; Luke 6:45). As we keep His Word in our heart (Psalm 119:11) and continue to focus and meditate on His Word, we will speak His Word in a situation or when we are believing God for any certain thing, because that is what we know to speak and it is freshly sown in our hearts daily as we read and study His Word.

When we continue to keep God’s Word in our heart and speak it out of our mouth we continue to have life, because His Word is life. We receive health for our flesh, so we can continue to do what God has for us to do and be healthy and as we are healthy, we are being an example to others.

Instead of saying the bible (the Word) isn’t working for you, start working the Word by opening it up and read it, speak it and see it start working in your life.
