Renewing Our Mind
By Rusty Wilson
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
It is important that we don’t let our mind get filled with worldly junk that we are not open to receive guidance from the Holy Spirit. I’m not saying we don’t hear of or see things happening around us or in other parts of the world. It is important to renew our mind with the Word of God so we can meditate on His Word and apply it in our daily walk.
We need to have our focus on the Word of God when we pray so we can pray the Word. Whatever we pray about or who we pray for we need our mind renewed and focused on the Word so we can pray and speak it forth, believing and knowing that the Word of God is going to manifest in Jesus name.
There are times and more than sometimes that we need to renew our mind during the day due to being around worldly people hearing what they say and seeing what they do. Also seeing negative things on TV through the media and also TV shows. It is important to keep our mind renewed with the Word and keep our heart guarded because we don’t want our heart to be corrupted and open the door to opportunity to speak the wrong thing in conversations because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh (Matthew 12:34).
Keeping our mind renewed with the Word of God and having the Word in our heart we know we are not going to have corrupt communication proceeding out of our mouth as Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers”. We want to make sure that when we talk to others that we speak positive and encouraging words that it may minister to them. Keeping our mind renewed and the Word of God in our heart makes us available to speak true and encouraging words to others.
